Through his photographs, Max superbly captures the diversity, inspired [mis]behaviour, dynamic energy and, more importantly, context of performances. With the recent and increasing interest in our country’s folklore, dance and seasonal events, this publication represents a timely and welcome addition to existing documents and observations. Candid and more eccentric moments - which could have otherwise gone unnoticed - sit sensitively alongside others that truly celebrate the dramatic nature of these widespread events.
