About
Entropy Press is a non-profit collective that has it's origins in an obscure room in the basement of the Human Sciences Building of Auckland University in 1987 when students Max Reeves and Ian Collins encountered the Printer, Anarchist and Egyptologist Dr Bruce Grenville where he had his Press set up.
They soon acquired an old Adana hand press and some fonts and began printing things like stickers for Auckland's alternative bands as well as tracts, posters and suchlike before moving on to Books, printing the covers and Xeroxing the insides, sometimes using Grenville's Heidelberg Platen Press and occasionally his antique cast iron flatbed press for projects. Reeves relocated to London in 1990 and had a period of hiatus whilst pursuing photography until 2009 when he began to utilise new digital printing technologies to make zines culminating in Papakura Post Office a photography orientated Spazmodical and Raven's Revenge a comic trilogy by 8 year old Marlowe Chan-Reeves.
By the Autumn of 2016, Entropy Press in its new incarnation made a return to Book Publishing and a year later made the global leap official by buying British ISBNs (the previous NZ ones were free). Based in London's East End today we continue to evolve and mutate and now focus on Poetry and Photography books and any Spondulix we may encounter along the way is put straight back into our projects.
